Now that you have your web traffic, what do you do with it? Do you monetize it? Do you build a list?

Web traffic is useless if your site is leaky with many exit links, doesn’t have optimized monetization channels or list building, or good quality content to make your visitors become repeat visitors.

Let’s take a look at a real life example here.

One of my friends, Bryan, used my Stumble Upon traffic strategy and got huge traffic result!

A few days ago, 1 of my blog posts (written by my dad, John) attracted over 6,800 unique visitors in 1 day. It was followed by 2,900 the following day and 2,300 yesterday. It looks like another 2000 plus day today. Most of this traffic was generated from stumbleupon, so it is not very targeted traffic. I must say that the page was also not optimized for sales or leads, but it did indirectly lead to some optins, blog feed subscribers, blog comments and external links.

He got about 11,700 unique visitors. It was just too bad that his site was not optimized to monetize and build list. It was just later on that he added related affiliate products to sell.

Most Internet marketers keep track of their traffic sources, but sadly many of them neglect to track and optimize their opt-in performance. For example, if you have two opt-in boxes on your blog: one at the sidebar, and another below your blog post, you should track them so that you can see which position is the most effective.

If you use GetResponse.biz, you can easily track your opt-in performance by adding a unique reference code into each of your opt-in forms.

If you want to generate a new opt-in form with your unique reference code, just add unique number into the GetResponse.biz “Tracking Code (REF)” box.

If you already have opt-in form added into your squeeze page or blog theme, you can add your unique reference code into your opt-in form directly. Find this line in your opt-in form HTML code:

Change the number in of the value into whatever unique tracking number you want (Its default value is 000). In this screen shot below, I changed it to 007.

After all’s that done, you can start tracking your opt-in performance.

This is what it looks like in your subscriber list where the number in the REF column is your opt-in reference code.

And this is an example of my note to remind me which reference code is for which opt-in box.

007 - contentright.php
008 - index.php
020 - index.html
070 - Pop Up (blog)
080 - Pop Up (landing page)

Now login into your GetResponse.biz and start tracking your opt-in performance!
