Then start adding friends.    If you blog (or also called blogging), you can also join blog social network such MyBlogLog and BlogCatalog. Don’t forget to list your blog in the relevant category and join groups with similar interest there!

2. Social Bookmark

   Social bookmark is a service that allows one to bookmark their favorite sites and share them with others. So it’s a great idea to social bookmark your sites at the popular social bookmark sites such as Digg, Delicious, and Stumble Upon.

   Every social bookmark site allows you to add friends and interact with other users. So make sure to add friends there.

3. Forum

   The idea here is to join and participate in active forums that are relevant to your niche market. To participate in a forum, you can answer questions, ask questions or even give recommendations.

   Be subtle. Don’t openly promote your websites, products, or services in a forum. It’s a good idea to let your forum signature to do the marketing

Hence for getting significant free web traffic, it’s very crucial for any websites to get listed in Google. Especially brand new sites. Unfortunately it’s not easy to get listed in Google. If you do it manually by submitting your website URL to Google, it may take weeks or even months before your site is listed. Imagine how many targeted targeted and potential customers that you lose during this period!

She’s curious about my Stumble Upon strategy.

I’m very skilled in getting web traffic through many means, but I’m trying to learn about StumbleUpon, which it sounds like you’re having great success with.

So I gave her 7 hints to explode her Stumble Upon traffic, and I may as well share here, too.

1. Never stumble your own content, whether it’s blog post or article since it’s not allowed under Stumble Upon terms of service.
2. Never stumble opt-in pages or sale pages… stumblers tend to give thumb down for those pages and it’ll end up hurt your traffic.
3. Add friends in SU, preferable the top stumblers. Your goal is to have 200 reciprocated friends (200 is the maximum friends allowed in SU). But no worry, you can always delete your friends.
4. Submit to correct topic with the correct tags (SU only uses up to 4 tags, the category will become a tag as well). You must experiment to find which topic gives you the best result.
5. Add comments/reviews when stumbling.
6. Exchange stumbles with others.
7. You can always buy SU sponsorship. Yes, just by $20 you can bribe your way in into SU. Meaning your site will shown in SU home page.
   If you’re short on spare cash, you can request other stumblers to sponsor you.

Web traffic is useless if your site is leaky with many exit links, doesn’t have optimized monetization channels or list building, or good quality content to make your visitors become repeat visitors.

Let’s take a look at a real life example here.

One of my friends, Bryan, used my Stumble Upon traffic strategy and got huge traffic result!

A few days ago, 1 of my blog posts (written by my dad, John) attracted over 6,800 unique visitors in 1 day. It was followed by 2,900 the following day and 2,300 yesterday.    2. Make your blog more appealing and encourage your readers to comment.
5. How can increase traffic to my blog?

   Basically there are two ways to increase traffic to your blog:

   1. Pay traffic
   2. Organic traffic

6. How do I enter a YouTube video onto my blog?

   On the right side of the video on YouTube, you see this menu below. Copy all the HTML code inside the Embed field.

   

   Then when you compose or edit your blog post or page

   1. Choose the “View HTML”.
   2. Paste the HTML code from the YouTube embed field into the text area.
   3. See the preview of your blog post (if you use Wordpress, click “Save and Continue Editing”). If the code is right, the video will show up in preview.
   4. Pulbish your blog post along with the YouTube video.

Well, since he’s my mentor and I paid quite some amount of money for his coaching, I decided to believe him and gave it a try. It bombed big time! I didn’t get traffic at my first attempt and I felt frustrated. My thought was, “Damn, I paid for this and this is all I received? Do this. Do that. Do this again. Do that again.” Simply put, I was very upset.

However I felt that I only wasted my money (for coaching fee) if I quited. So I kept doing these free web traffic generation strategies. But still no result.

So I changed my course of action. I researched the web, forums and blogs, and looked for information: How Internet marketers got their web traffic? I got the same piece of information: Stumbling, blog posting and commenting, forum marketing, article marketing, and so on. This convinced me that there was a missing piece of puzzle in generating free web traffic that I was not aware of.

Stumble Upon

Finally I got a fraction of that missing piece of puzzle and I made an experiment. Bang, I at least doubled my blog traffic using Stumble Upon during this experiment!

At least there was a start. I could finally got a decent amount of free web traffic using Stumble Upon and I keep polishing my stumbling skills.

Social Bookmarks

To be honest, I still couldn’t get significant traffic using social bookmarks: Onlywire and Digg.

However recently I learned these interesting facts about:

• Reddit (from my dear blogger friend, Jonathan C. Phillips)
  

  As for Reddit, it’s actually quite like any other social networking sites, except it’s a meritocracy, which means even if 40% of people bury your story, it may still get to the front page. even votes down will count as “getting attention” good or bad. As with Netscape or other Social Networks, the more friends you have the better your chances are to make the frontpage.

• Netvous
  One of traffic generation videos that I watched mentioned that Netvous doesn’t have no-follow attribute. This means that URL submission to Netvous is indexed by search engines. This is great news because Netvous is PR 7!

Now I keep focusing on those two social bookmark sites.

Conclusion

I learned a lot from this experience and experiment.

1. Trust your mentor (if you have one). Your mentor’s teachings may have deeper meanings that you may not grasps its meaning yet at first.
2. Keep trying and focus on getting great result. You’ll eventually attract your goals.
3. Ask successful people how they do it. You’ll be amazed that they’ll answer your questions and help you.
4. Welcome coopetition (a unique blend of cooperation and competition) by working together and helping each other.
5. Apply Paretto’s rule. In whatever you, there’s always 20% action that gives you 80% results. Focus on this 20% action only.
