Based on my experience, I couldn’t really get much web traffic using this method. However I believe the paid classified ads can generate more web traffic because those ads are placed on the high traffic pages.

You are right. Classified ads does work great indeed for promotion, and it’s not only for traffic. Also, 1-2 ads are not enough, there are dozens of classified ads site. However, from experience, the best way to use them is using the paid features by having an original and worthwhile product.
