How To Make Your Website Look Professional
I’ve been asked several times by my friends how to make a website look professional. While making a website is easy (you can use FrontPage or any other WYSIWYG editors such as Adobe Dreamweaver) making it looks professional is a different matter.
The key in making a website looks professional is consistency. Here’s the easy formula that I usually follow in designing the layout of my website: CRAP.
- C: Center
- Such as centering your headlines and titles.
- R: Repetition
- Repeat the same logo or images in every page. This also helps reducing your data transfer and bandwidth usage because the same images are already stored in your viewer’s browsers, which also makes the webpages load faster, especially if you use high resolution images.
- Use the same font and style in every page.
- A: Alignment
- You must be consistent whether it’s left, right, full, or center alignment.
- P: Position
- Place everything strategicly and proportionally.
CRAP and making your website looks professional can be easily implemented using a web template and CSS. However the easiest way to making your website looking professional is by using a blog because blog by default already have a template or theme.
You can get a free hosted blog at blogger.com or you can get WordPress if you want to host your blog yourself.
