How To Set Your Blog On Auto Pilot
Tuesday, February 20th, 2007 • Category
For this you need three things:
- A hidden email address along with its mail server, login name and password information.
- Autoresponder.
- Wordpress.
I believe you can already guess where I’m going
I’m going to use autoresponder to post via email!
- So you create a hidden email address for just this purpose.
- You create a new autoresponder’s campaign for just this purpose with the hidden email address above as it’s only member.
- Configure your Wordpress blog to accept post via email.
- Create messages to be broadcasted at your schedule, which becomes your blog post.
Voila, you’ve set your blog to auto pilot!
That’s if you don’t mind having unsubscribe link at the end of your post. (Remember that with CAN SPAM act, autoresponder service provider has a default unsubscribe link at the end of every email broadcast being sent out).

I read about that in an ebook right before Christmas and heard about it last year, but this is the first time someone ever posted about it. I know a couple of people whose blogs have classic material and are on auto-pilot this way. There’s also Blog Auto Publisher, and if you’re just doing a few entries, the Post Timestamp button on the Write panel in WP.
Great post – if had a BUMPzee button here I’d definitely bump it.

Hi Tat,
There’s one problem if we use Post Time Stamp button: the ping won’t be synchronized with the time stamp.
The ping will occur at the time you actually write the post, not the time when you time stamp it.
You might want to ping your blog manually then.
Comment by Tat on 21 February 2007:
I thought they fixed that in the last release. At least my pings seem to be synched up to post time. And if you have FeedBurner you can also ping via the burned update.

The last time I tried was with WP 2.06. I haven’t tested it again in WP 2.1. Thanks for your info. I’ll try it.
I also have added BUMPzee button

Hey Aldian,
I wouldn’t use an autoresponder to post to my blog. You’ll have other codes appearing in your blog post.
You’re much better off either loading a bunch of archived posts and leave them in draft/saved status and publishing on the day itself, or investing in a copy of RSS2Blog.

Hey Andrew,
I like comment like yours because that way we all learn from each other
You’re all the greatest!
