Qassia - A New Breed of Squidoo and Yahoo Answers?
Sunday, March 2nd, 2008 • Category
Here comes Qassia. It’s modeled similar like Naver, a number one and busiest site in South Korea. Here, it reminds me to Squidoo and Yahoo Answers.

Its idea is simple: share your tidbit of knowledge with others. But Qassia takes it to another step:
- You’re allowed to add your sites.
- You’re encouraged to share your knowledge with others by writing articles (Qassia calls it intel).
- You get revenue sharing from AdSense that’s published in your intel page.
- You get Qassia credit for writing intel or rating other intels.
- You can exchange this Qassia credit to display your sites.
Will Qassia take off and be succesful like Naver in South Korea or it’s a blunder like Agloco? Time will tell.
Qassia is currently closed to public. You can only join Qassia through this link and it’s free to join.
When you join Qassia, make sure to change the AdSense ID into yours.

I’m curious, what do you think of Qassia?

I wonder if this will change things up, or if it will add to the enormous clutter that already exists with the many social media sites?
Comment by Aldian on 4 March 2008:
I can’t really tell at this time. So it’s better not to spend too much time and resources in Qassia yet.

Hi Aldian!
Long time no see
I have joined Qassia over a few weeks ago and still have to see if it is going to work, after all, they still haven´t come out of beta…
As far as I know you still can´t exchange qassia credit for publicity, but you can use it for creating backlinks in an easier way than most article directories (intel gets accepted a lot quicker), however not sure about the value of the backlinks yet. Another thing they want to add in future, once they come out of beta (if that ever happens… ) is the possibility to exchange qassia credits for cash… selling it to others who just want the credits for publicity …
Keep up the good work!
Comment by Aldian on 7 March 2008:
Hi Mirjam,
Nice to see you again!
It seems that they don’t really screen the intels… I even saw many intels that just posted affiliate links without any articles nor decent information. If they don’t fix this problem, Qassia can be saturated with spammers…
Comment by Mirjam on 7 March 2008:
the screening is actually done by the members. when adding intel, it needs to be screened by 10 different members before being accepted. Plus, members can report faulty and spammy intel after being accepted.
I guess a system is only as good as it´s members …
Comment by Aldian on 7 March 2008:
Actually after the intel’s been screened, it can be edited and republished directly without screening process again.
This may be the loop hole?
Comment by Nancy on 8 March 2008:
Interesting read. I hope to read a lot more about Qassia. Is this something we can use in the US?
Comment by Aldian on 8 March 2008:
Yes Nancy. It’s open to world wide.
Comment by Mirjam on 8 March 2008:
@Aldian
you´re right, had not thought about that… but then again, members can report bad intel I think …
We will just have to wait and see what happens with Qassia if they ever get out of beta.
What do you think of entrecard?
Comment by Aldian on 8 March 2008:
@Mirjam:
I agree let’s wait and see.
What’s entrecard?
Comment by Andreas Beierl on 8 March 2008:
Hmm, the design sucks
Anyway i registered, but the site doesn´t seem to be very active actually…
Perhaps it´s better to check it once again in some months.
Comment by Aldian on 9 March 2008:
@Andreas
The pinky color is not my fav either. Lol.
Comment by Reztar on 28 March 2008:
very simple design for a site that will provide many features you mentioned in the post. well…. just wait and see now.
Comment by Computer Repair on 3 April 2008:
I hope this becomes popular like squidoo. I love some of the features it has like the exchanging of points. Hopefully it doesn’t become spammy.
Comment by Chauncy on 7 April 2008:
Great, thanks for sharing the link!

Hi Aldian,
Thanks for the great article!
It’ll be interesting to see just how the Qassia
site pans out in time. I agree with some of the concerns above though, seems like there’s still some bugs that may have to be worked out, but sounds like they’ll be implementing some great features.
Thanks for the link!

Comment by Aldian on 10 April 2008:
You’re welcome Kyrie. I’m also hoping that they have better filter to prevent spam articles.
Comment by Emirhan on 11 April 2008:
My head aches only when I think of this type of website. Maybe it’s just me, but in my limited Y!Answers experience, I realized that every bit of information in there was also available on some forum already.
The difference? A forum has a nicely threaded view, a much better way of communication, and so on and so forth. But perhaps it’s just a cultural difference, and people for whom it’s targeted actually find it useful?
That first page one sees on entrance is not exactly friendly ..

I am not a fan of qassia… have you been able to get any decent links from it?
Comment by surveying equipment on 14 July 2008:
me too, i think qassia got blown way out of proportion.
